China fired over 1,000 rain dispersal rockets Friday evening to blow away rain clouds for smooth opening of the 29th Olympic Games at the National Stadium here, officials said Saturday.
It was the largest rain dispersal operation in China and the first time that such technology has been used to ensure clear weather condition for the Olympic opening, a meteorologist said.

Chinese meteorologists must be highly complimented on their great success in making rain-free
weather possible for the opening ceremony of the 29th.Olympics of 2008.They have once again proved to the doubting Thomases of American,British and Indian Meteorologists that patriotism and genuine scientific hard work oriented to public good will ultimately win in the long run.In fact Chinese proved that even cloud seeding technology is very sound and confers great benefits to mankind in the hands of genuine but not arm-chaired meteorologists who always revel in negative criticism instead of making positive suggestions to eliminate deficiencies,if any,in cloud seeding operations in different countries.Chinese indirectly rejected out-right the findings of the Negative Report on weather modification submitted by the Experts Group to the US.Academy of Sciences in October,2003 which is quoted by the US media to suppress cloud seeding as an inevitable weapon to fight the impacts of Droughts and Global warming impacts waiting in the wings.Even to-day,it is not too late for the genuine presidents and prime-ministers to wake up and realise that cloud seeding positively helps to remove poverty,hunger,disease and unemployment by providing more water that is the BLUE GOLD for economic development of all nations including India,African states and Latin American states.
